New traffic lights at the T intersection at University Ave and Shaganappi Trail. NW. (formerly W Campus Way?)

Describe Issue: New lights at University Ave and Shaganappi Trail. NW. Early in the morning the lights will change to red on Shaganappi for no reason. No cars are stopped at this intersection. (no one stopped on University Way). Is there not a sensor in the road for cars trying to access Shag from University Ave? Do not like having to stop at a red light, that is 30 seconds long by the way, for no reason. Time frame is before 5:30 AM weekdays...often before 5 bam. Can this please be addressed.
