Sign on Street, Lane, Sidewalk - Request for New at 83 Rocky Ridge He NW

OPENED over 5 years ago #18-01148859

Today, at 8:45am, I was walking with 4 children ages 3-8 years old, through the crosswalk at Rocky Ridge Heath and Rocky Ridge Blvd NW. When we were half way across the road walking southbound, a car heading eastbound drove through the crosswalk appearing to be driving the speed limit, with no apparent awareness that there were 5 people in the crosswalk. Just as the car passed through the crosswalk, the driver glanced towards me, and seemed to notice us walking through the crosswalk, however at that point it was too late to stop and she continued on her way without slowing down. In the morning when there is a lot of activity across crosswalks while children are heading to their bus stops, the sun along Rocky ridge Blvd is hazardous. Cars are unable to see clearly due to the sun in their eyes, and many do not seem to adjust their speed accordingly, to account for the decreased visibility. I am fearful crossing the Blvd, and especially concerned about the safety of my young children.

Issue: Permanent Sign (Add or Modify)

Details of request: Please install a flashing pedestrian sign at this intersection. Pedestrians need a way to alert drivers that they are crossing, especially during busy times and when the sun is reducing visibility.

Specific location details: crosswalk at Rocky Ridge Blvd and Rocky Ridge Heath NW.
