Road has a horrible pot hole

Specific location details: There is a bad pothole that has been there a while. The city put up a 'bump' caution sign over a month ago. The pothole is now so bad that small cars and low suspension vehicles have to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid it. It is right after a hill and there is no advance warning for northbound traffic. There are A LOT of cement trucks taking this road and the extra weight is making the pothole worse. Since some cars can't drive over it, I don't think just a 'bump' sign is enough.
